Moong Dal Payaasam

         1) Dry roast the moong dal slightly

           2) Pressure cook the Dal for 2 whistles


          3) Heat up 1 cup of water and add the Jaggery. Once the jaggery              completely dissolves in the hot water, remove the syrup from the stove and filter it. The jaggery syrup should not be in thick consistency

        4) Add the jaggery syrup to the pre- cooked moong dal and let it boil for 5 minutes



5) Grind 1/2 cup of Shredded coconut and get about 1/2 cup of thick coconut milk. Add the coconut milk to the boiling mixture. Cook this mixture for 5 minutes. After adding the coconut milk it should not be boiled for more than 5 minutes


6) Heat up a tablespoon of ghee in a pan. Roast the cashew nut and raisins into golden brown color. Powder the cardamom along with a teaspoon of sugar. Add the roasted cashew nuts, raisins and the powdered cardamom to the payaasam and switch off the flame


                                               Serve this tasty Payaasam hot or cold
