Mint Chutney

DIRECTIONS

 1) Cut the onion into small pieces, slit the green chilies

2) Wash the mint leaves, coriander leaves thoroughly twice or thrice

3) Heat up oil in a pan. Add onion, green chili and saute it for a minute

4) Add the mint leaves, coriander leaves, salt, tamarind and saute it for 2 minutes

5) Finally add the coconut and slightly saute it and switch off the stove and let it cool. Grind the mixture in a blender. The chutney should be a little bit coarse

6) Heat up 1 teaspoon of oil in a pan. When the oil is hot add mustard seed and urad dal. When the mustard seed crackles switch off the stove. Add this to the chutney and mix it well

Serve this mint chutney with idly, dosa, rotti, and pongal
