1) Cut the onion, tomato, green chili, and ginger into small pieces

2) Cut the cabbage and wash it well

3) Heat up 1 tablespoon of oil in a pan. When the oil is hot, add the mustard and urad dal seeds. When mustard seeds crackle, add the red chili


4) After the color of the red chili slightly changes, add the onion, green chili, ginger, asafoetida, and curry leaves. Saute it for a minute. Add the cabbage, tomato, and required amount of salt. Saute it for a minute


5) When the cabbage gets tender add the shredded coconut and tamarind. Slightly saute it and switch off the flame


6) When the mixture gets cool, grind it into a little bit of a coarse consistency

Now the Cabbage chutney is ready to serve. This cabbage chutney is suitable for idly and dosa


NOTE: If you are spicy lovers you can add more chilies as your requirement
